DRUG CATEGORY: Proton Pumps Inhibitor/Antacids

CONTENTS: Each chewable tablet contains: Famotidine U.S.P 10 mg, Calcium Carbonate U.S.P 800 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide U.S.P 165 mg

FAMOTIDINE WITH CALCIUM CARBONATE AND MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE 


INDICATIONS & DOSAGE:  Prevention and relief from daytime and night-time heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset or sour stomach due to excessive  stomach acid:

Adults and Children 12 yrs: One chewable tablet after a meal, if symptoms return, another tablet may be given; maximum two tablets in 24 hours; max duration of treatment 14 days. If symptoms continue for more than 14 days, consult a physician.


CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to famotidine or other H2 antagonists, calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, or any component of the formulation.


PRECAUTIONS: Patients with kidney disease, heartburn over 3 months, heartburn with light-headedness, sweating, or dizziness or chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath: consult a physician. Do not take within two hours of another medication because the effectiveness of the other drug may be altered. Do not swallow the tablet whole, chew the tablet completely.


INTERACTIONS:  Antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), tetracycline antibiotics (e.g. minocycline), quinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprotloxa doxycycline), thyroid medicine, calcium channel blockers (e.g. diltiazem, verapamil), quinidine, delavirdine, digoxin, sodium polystyrene sulfinate.

Side effects: side effects may include constipation, headache, black stools, and allergic reactions.
